The Government of Uttar Pradesh, on December 8, 2025, of the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981 read with Section 21 of the General Clauses Act, 1897, and after consultation with the Uttar Pradesh Pollution Control Board, notified amendments to the Uttar Pradesh (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Rules, 1983, through the publication of an English translation under Article 348(3) of the Constitution.
The notification brings into force the Uttar Pradesh Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) (Fourth Amendment) Rules, 2025, which shall be effective from the date of publication in the Official Gazette. The amendment primarily provides for the substitution of the existing Schedule-I of the Rules with a revised Schedule, as specified in Column-II of the notification.
This amendment is intended to update and rationalise the regulatory framework governing air pollution control in the State, ensuring alignment with contemporary environmental management requirements and strengthening the implementation mechanism under the Air Act, 1981.
